Yup.

Yesterday:
5:12 pm Uninstall all traces of DC.
5:14 pm Reinstall DC .5
5:19 pm Fire up DC and go on GA server.
5:20 pm No one is on GA server, Docks map running.
5:21 pm Jump in truck to test map.
5:22 pm Reach warehouse, jump on forklift.
5:22 30 seconds Computer freezes, then crashes to desktop
5:22 35 seconds Computer give B.S.O.D. and reboots itself.
5:22 48 seconds Somehow refrain from throwing computer thru wall.
5:23 pm Somehow refrain from using BF1942 cds and jewel box as shotgun targets (god knows I need the practice).
5:24 pm Open beer (a good one :D )
5:25 pm Feel somewhat better.
5:26 pm Play a different game, computer runs fine (OF COURSE!!)

God I HATE BF '42

Are you using a Geforce? I had to use the Nvidia 45.23 drivers for BF1942/DC to work properly. Otherwise I get corrupted graphics and crashes.

Yeah a GF3. I never get corrupted graphics but man does it crash.
I'll check the drivers but I think I use the 45.23s.

If you disable the automatic reboot on BSOD, you can read the name of the driver that failed from the BSOD info. Most NVidia drivers have a prefix 'nv' so it's a good indication if you need to update or backrev the gfx drivers.

Yeah.
I heard the latest Nvidia drivers don't like '42. That is probably your problem.

aahhh, not true. I'm running the new Beta Nvidia, and they run perfectly.

Geo4, 128mb, PNY.

I also heard the 4.49 Via drivers had some trouble with BF'42. You might wanna try that.

I am using the latest Omega Nvidia drivers for my Geforce4. So far so good. I had to upgrade because Call of Duty wasn't playing very well with my older drivers.

My new motherboard that I installed a few days ago doesnt use VIA (unlike all of my previous boards). So that could be why i'm not having any more problems in BF while using later geforce drivers.

This was DC Urban Assault last night. I swerved to avoid some of Mikey's mines, and well... :p

(This is the rooftop of a 3 or 4 story building)

Were you able to take off again? I remember a couple of "Paladin is no more"s on that map. :)

Cheers,

No. One of those "Paladin is no more"'s was me jumping off the building and not getting my parachute open in time. I figured it was either that or stand there and wait for the plane to explode.
