View Full Version : Galactic Conquest & Secret Weapons
First off: EA & DICE will be releasing a demo of the BF1942 expansion 'Secret Weapons of World War II' on August 8th. The demo will feature 10 of 16 new weapons on the new Hellendoorn map.
Second: There is a Star Wars based mod for BF1942 called 'Galactic Conquest'. Supposedly, it's based on the Battle of Hoth from 'Empire Strikes Back'. There are flyable speeders and such. I'm downloading it now and will give a full review soon. :) If it's good, you might find it in the BF1942 files section sometime tonight. Here's the homepage for the mod: http://www.galactic-conquest.net/
The Secret Weapons Mod sounds cool - flying wing, V2s. Is there gonna be a rocket plane and buzz bombs (V1)?

Seriously though, it looks like a decent mod. Not up to the level of DC yet though. By the forum comments it looks like they have a lot of balancing issues to work out.

Wooo! I just got done playing some Galactic Conquest. Like you said Sal, it's not up to the snuff of DC, but it has A LOT of potential.
There was only 1 map so far "Hoth". The two sides are "Imperials" and "Rebels".
Rebels get 1 spawn of the Millenium Falcon at their base. It's slow but hella powerful. They also get lots of landspeeders. Their weapons seem to be a bit more powerful as the Imperials as well.
Imperials get AT-AT walkers (the 2 legged things). You can fit 2 people in them, one as driver/gunner and the other as side gunner. They also get 2 versions of a TIE fighter. A bomber and a figher. The fighters are the straight winged ones; the bombers have the octagonal wings. They also get those little black robot things with all the arms which are flyable but slooooooow.
All in all it was a nice diversion. The sounds are great (blaster sounds and such) and the models are top notch. I can't wait to see what it's like with future releases.

I got the 'road to rome' expansion pack, so I am kinda burned out on spending another $20 for a 'bonus'....
I think the packs should be $5-$10...since the game is already paid for.
(plus, since DC is free; there is no contest).
Imperial Walkers sounds cool. That would be worth it right there. I'll have to check it out.

Do you guys know if EA is officially doing a "road to Vietnam" or something? Or is a mod like DC?
Official titles?

From what I understand Secret Weapons is the 2nd expansion pack for BF42, then next year (or is it later this year?) EA/DICE will release Battlefield: Vietnam as a stand-alone game, equivalent to the original Battlefield: 1942.

Can't say that I am real thrilled about secret weapons. The screenies of the German in a jetpack dogfighting with planes was a little much for me...........
