A few peeps have indicated that they would like to practice some of the finer points of '42/DC. I was wondering if any of you guys would like to do that today? We can run through all the weapons and classes and watch SFT crash the helo a few hundred times. :D
Post here if you are interested and I will put up my IP for the practice server. I was thinking around 3pm MT.
Also, for the newer peeps, check out the Tweaks thread in this section. Couple little tweaks to make the game run a little better.

Ummm
I am on MT in Arizona and it is just past 6am at the moment. 3pm is roughly 8 1/2 hours from now.
Gawd I hate time zones.
I think I have it right now.
LMAO-- GMT is Greenwich mean time (as in England)- so you mean 3pm MT- which is 4pm CT which, yes, is several hours from now.
See you at 3pm MT :p

WTF does my timezone on the bottom of this page say GMT? It reads the right time.
hehe
I always forget which zone I am in because we don't ever roll our clocks here in Arizona. We were all too stupid, so we just have daylight until 9pm.
At least I got to practice my Post deletion skillz. :p
If it says GMT you didn't set your timezone in your profile. ;)
Anybody else showing up today?

If we get more than 8 people, we will have to move the session to the GA server. My piddly little 256/640 will laugh at me if I try to host more.

OK-- so that's an hour later for me. 5pm CT (3pm PT, 4pm MT, 5pm CT 6pm ET)

We can do it on the GA server... should not be busy that time of day...
We can always password it for a bit if necessary.

Thx, Stealth. It looks like there will be enough of us to use the big server.

I will be there at 4:00 Radio's time. A little lag and all but I need to learn.
I'll be on TS, also.
I tried TeamSpeak and it was echoing-- so on the guy's advice I dl'd new KX drivers for my Audigy Card...
Now no sound.no mic at all. Gah!

After you reinstall the old drivers.....hehe
Try turning the slider up towards "Shout" in the Settings section of Teamspeak. If you are not using headphones, your speakers will sometimes activate the mic. There may be an issue with your Audigy as Mikey has been having the same problems. There IS a new version of Teamspeak Server that I will be putting on sometime this week. That MAY clear up your problem. Everybody else seems to be connecting fine, though.
I just saw this. It's 5:55 PM EST here. Did I miss it? Where are you?

Training has ended... the server is opened up with no pass now.
That was great! EH and Ink really know their stuff.
If this ever evolves to clanning I'd be interested. ;)

Pretty select group of users right now....
I digress.
Ink: is there an axis/allied way to tie TS to the game? That way (when I get a mic) I can talk to my team only? Is it server specific? Some of the clans are really organized, with much too much time in strategic stuff... But if you all want to play on the same team with TS I am all for it.
I play at a LAN once a week with 5-10 guys...they have a T1. When we all hit a server, it is really unfair unless we split up.
Good session. I learned a bit. Flew and landed the C-130 which was cool. I can fly helis a little but I keep getting connection problems while I'm in them so I might have to just stay away from them. The planes are fine thoung. Is there a way to change to zoom of a map while it's in the corner?

Good session. Is there a way to change to zoom of a map while it's in the corner?
Default key is "n".
Does that zoom out or in? I need to see more of the map on the screen for when I'm flying, because the planes move so fast.

it zooms small, medium and large (magnified).
For my taste the middle one is best. When zoomed way out (small) the blue/reds dont show well. I get most of my oops/TK from aircraft.
Tip: Don't helo spam (or bomb run) a contested flag without real careful recon. If you frag your teammate who is trying to turn the flag you become a big weiny -- the honorable thing to do is crash the plane (chute first) to take the flag.
Well, I'm already good at crashing planes, so I guess I'm half way there. :D
Thanks, Stapuf.

The server is set up with three channels right now. A lobby, and an Allied/Coalition and Axis/Opposition channel. YOu will need to set up a hot key to switch channels in-game.

Yeah I did seem to see alot of you Hort, Then spent the rest of the night picking F7's ammo out of the back of my head.
I'm loving the sniper class.
How long before the game gets ruined by everybody deciding the sniper should be banned for "lame camping"? :p
Seriously- those urban maps are intense, crawling along or perched on a roof with the sniper.
The only thing missing is a translocator. ;)

How long before the game gets ruined by everybody deciding the sniper should be banned for "lame camping"? :pThe "kill cam" takes a lot out of the sniper class 'cause they can't just hide in one spot the whole game (unless it's on a map like Omaha Beach where there are effectively untouchable sniper nests). The sniper rifle is also inaccurate while standing or moving and has a slow RoF, so it's not as if it can be used as a general purpose weapon like the one in UT *cough*Moot*cough*.

RoF?
stapuf
08-04-2003, 11:25 AM
RoF?
Probably rate of fire. The reload time is too long when in a close melee with an Ak47, M16 or the ever popular RPG/Stinger combo.
Salyavin

Yup, RoF = Rate of Fire.

lol - SAL :D Thanks !!
I use the sniper rifle on a few maps. Iwo Jima, if I'm up on the hill base at the end. I'll use support class if it's an armor map like East 73. I stated using the assault class again - for tight urban maps. Maps with a lot of aircraft (helicopters) I'll use the Heavy Machine gun. You can take every aircraft down with it. If a C-130 is spawn killing your base, the best thing is the heavy machine gun. Just stay near an ammo box because you may need 3 or 4 or more clips. Usually 2 clips for a helicopter. I've taken down jets and A-10s also with the heavy machine gun. Remember, you need to lay prone for longer bursts of fire. Otherwise short bursts for infantry if you're standing. In Bocage, get into the windmill and spray the barn for snipers, then cover the bridge with the heavy machine gun - it's great for long range if you're laying down.

When you get 'killed' your camera zooms to the killers location...
Then you respawn and RPG the camping biatch...
So, make sure you move around, especially when turning flags. Otherwise the guy you just killed will do what I said earlier. :p

Aha! So that explains how people can find you so fast after you kill them. Hmmm.
