Well first of all, I finally got this game and i've been playing it for a couple of days now. It looks very promising.

Is there like a newbie FAQ for BF/DC conquest? Im having trouble with this. The five main questions that I have are these:

1. I realize your team is supposed to capture most of the control points, so that the other team's tickets run out. But how? I've tried checking the manual, but it didn't get very detailed. Is there a flagpole or something you have to press the "use" key on? do you just run all of the opponents out of that control point in order to capture it?

2. How do you re-capture your own base?

3. Why are some control points "cancelled" out. Im assuming this means you can't capture this point. But why?

4. Sometimes I will be seeing what looks like aircraft hiding in the clouds shooting bombs at me and my teammates. The thing is that I dont see the actual helicopter ( i think its a helicopter because it stays in one spot in the air). I only see the rockets firing from it. Is this normal or is it like a cheat?

5. How do you pick up items left by a dead person?

I'm interested in learning this game, so any help would be appreciated.

Oops, and one more question if anyone cares. Anyone have trouble with the game just throwing you out to the desktop with no warning? Ive had this happen twice now.

Yeah the crash to desktop was a problem. I'll look for the posts and copy them to here.

5. I use the End key to pick up dead peoples kits (weapons) just walk or belly up to the kit and press your key and it's yours. You lose your own weapon though.

4. Yes they are trying to stay out of your firing range yet kill you at the same time.

3. It's the spawn point for that team. It's doesn't "save" you from being killed though. Just doesn't allow the enemy to take your base.

2. Recapture your base by killing the enemy in it and changing the flag to your color.

1. Take a flag by standing or laying near the Flagpole. It will go white then after a bit to your team color.
Somethimes it seems to take forever to turn..hehe.

Problems were with the incremental patch vs the full patch and if you had Battle of Britian installed or not.

You'll have to list what you have installed so far with BattleField & Desert Combat.
Then the "I know what's wrong" peeps can help you out Phan :)

1. I realize your team is supposed to capture most of the control points, so that the other team's tickets run out. But how? I've tried checking the manual, but it didn't get very detailed. Is there a flagpole or something you have to press the "use" key on? do you just run all of the opponents out of that control point in order to capture it?When you get near the flag, a white flag icon will show up on your HUD. You need to stay close for 10 seconds to turn the flag white, and another 10 seconds to turn it to your team. However, if an enemy is also in the flag area, it will stay white and never turn to your team until the enemy is killed or leaves.

Some flags have a very large area and you need to search buildings to find someone preventing you from capturing it. Others, like on the Medina Ridge push map, have a very small radius and you need to be right next to the flag pole to take it.

3. Why are some control points "cancelled" out. Im assuming this means you can't capture this point. But why? Some flags are not takeable so that a team always has a place to spawn and keep the game going. If a team has only takeable flags and loses them all, the timer counts down to zero in a couple seconds.

Was this on Kharkov, the map with opposition to the north, coalition to the south, and three takeable flags, two next to bridges and one on a big hill in the middle? If so, those rockets were probably from an MLRS or BM21 (mobile rocket launcher trucks) sitting on the hill and shooting down into one of the untakeable bases. (jerks)

5. How do you pick up items left by a dead person? In the Infantry key bindings, there's a key for "Drop / Pick-Up Kit." Use whatever key you have set there.

Cheers,
Salyavin

Some flags are not takeable so that a team always has a place to spawn and keep the game going. If a team has only takeable flags and loses them all, the timer counts down to zero in a couple seconds.

Just a refinement, that rapid countdown only happens when all the members of the opposing team are dead, as well as have no place to respawn.

w00t!
Get on the server, Phan. We will break you in. It is also a lot of fun using Teamspeak. You haven't heard anything 'till you've heard Sobe screaming for the death of Nazis. It's inspiring.

Probably.

I saw Phan last night on that map and they were launching from trucks into the base from across the water. I finally ditched a vehicle and swam across the water to take a couple out but it was too late.

And why don't they go on to capture more bases instead of pinning us down in the base camp?

And why don't they go on to capture more bases instead of pinning us down in the base camp?I think by that point we/they had all the flags. (I switched after it got really boring being on opp. Teams were getting unbalanced too, what with coalition players leaving during the spawncamping. Kharkov often devolves into that, which is why I'm really starting to detest the map.)

Awesome Phan!! Looking forward to seeing you on-line. Get on Teamspeak so the gang can give you hands-on training. I haven't been playing that much due to my ISP still dropping packets, but when I am on, look for me. I'll be the guy reconnecting every 5 minutes or so. :p

But really I'm envious, 'cause your ISP is only dropping packets while my ISP is dropping me (actually, all their residential customers). Looks like I'm gonna be w/o broadband for a week or so, until Speakeasy/COVAD hook me up. Hope I survive the withdrawal...
