Time will tell if custom content can be developed to extend this for some time, but right now, this game is the best thing I've purchased in 10 years.

Ultimately replayable. Demands team play, I'm actually finding a lot of good online players.

Ya, i must have hit a bit of luck last night. Found a great group the first server I joined. They were actually healing each other. Everyone of us made it to the safe room on the Mercy map. I didn't hear one "WTF noob asl????" the whole time I was playing.

The game is going to need custom content. But other than that, its money well worth spent. If you use the server browser hack I posted in the previous thread, you can check server names for keywords like "Custom maps" "custom mods", etc and just play on those servers as they become available.

I hope the game is still being played after Christmas.. when things should be kind of normal again. I really want to play and don't have the time yet.

The demo was pretty intense for me. Phan wrote about playing just 45 mins & taking a break. Sounds like good advice.

Ther campaigns can get long, Sobe; especially played on expert. I know one that went for 6 hours but that's RARE I'm sure.

Generally, the campaigns I've completed were done in under an hour on Expert.

After playing the demo, I was concerned about replayability (if that is even a word?). Encouraging to see you all excited about it. I will probably pick it up soon.

Do the custom maps download automatically in game ala UT?

No custom material yet, Stealth.

The levels are quite large (I don't mean by file size though that's probably true too) and are involved so I think custom work may be a while.

Although I haven't tried Phan's server browser hack- are you seeing custom material, Phan?

No. As I understand it, the L4D SDK (Source Developer Kit) hasn't been released yet. Its coming soon. In the meantime, mappers/modders are using the one from other Source games in hopes that can import their work into the L4D SDK when it comes out. This is what I hear anyway.. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I do know that custom content IS going to happen. It's just a question of when the tools are available. I would expect L4D to receive a patch update, so that it can have the capability of downloading custom maps.

Custom content is the only way that L4D will survive over the next few years. Why do you think people play UT nine years after it was released? Certainly not for the stock CTF-Coret map. :D

And I got to be Smoker 4-5 times in a row on No Mercy 3--the best one to be Smoker on. :D

GGs with Phan... Versus is great because you get to laugh a lot (at least if you're me you do).
