The fact that the demo release was delayed another day because they could not get the EA downloader to unencrypt the files has me a bit nervous. I am not reading good things about the EA store or the EA downloader. Think I will wait until tomorrow. Not sure I can even run this thing right now anyways. Still needing a new vid card.
Let us know how it goes, Zin...

The DX9 version of the demo has been leaked, several sites are hosting it. Pretty cool so far, the suit takes a little getting used to. Looks very nice, even with a crap video card like mine.
DX10 version is supposed to be available tomorrow on NVidia's site.

Short, but sweet. Took a bit less than an hour, but definitely left me wanting more. The destructible terrain is awesome.
Interested to see what Hort thinks tomorrow when the DX10 version is out.
You have a link for the Nvidia DL?
Found it... by the way... story is the very latest Forceware drivers are teh suxxor with this game and 64bit. I'll see how things go tomorrow.

Between your 64-bit woes at home and my 64-bit woes at work. I'm thinking a lot needs to be done before 64-bit OS's become mainstream.

Actually Mikey,
64 bit has been excellent for me for about two months. Nivdia got the driver's in order and almost everything has been smooth. Only exception is that my audio, which is USB, occasionally doesn't wake up coming out of sleep.
Woot! The full version has been released early. I'm getting it from Filefront at 2.1mb per second  Just clicked save and already 9% done.
/me hugs Filefront.
Additionally... I've seen posts from a number of fast duo and some q-core users with 8800GTX' when, on Ultra-high DX10 are getting.... drumroll...
10fps :ack:
Quote from Crytek: "This game will bring the 8800's to their knees..." and "current hardware is two years behind the software."

At 1.77GB, this is a BIG downlaod. T-11 until I have to download new video drivers.
Hokay... played up to the beach so far. The suit controls- I need to map better. And the power-ups are very short-lived.
I can play it at full res- 1920x1200... but ONLY with everything at medium settings. I dunno what Crytek played this on but it wasn't anywhere near even today's high-end gear. I need to install fraps but at full re and everything set "Very High" WHICH IS WHAT THE GAME CHOSE FOR ME AS OPTIMAL I get maybe 10fps.
Still need to tweak and probably try the new drivers.
Everything at very high... except AA off and post-proc to low helps quite a bit... but still single-digit fps in fire fights

Very fun demo... have run through it twice. Once to just get through, the second time to take a good look around. Reminds me of Far Cry, but with a cool suit.
I give this the Stealth seal of approval.
Need to start looking at getting a new vid card.
Wait and see if NVidia has something up their sleeve timed with the full release. Doubtful... but they just can't be thinking that all this eye candy will be useless for another year.
AH! SLI not enabled in the demo. Holding out hope.

Prolly should mention the cons I have seen.
The AI is not the greatest. I have snuck in and opened fire, only to have the enemy go into a battle stance and face the opposite direction. Also, from a distance, you can hear the enemy cry out when taking a hit, although there is no apparent damage. They will stay in the same spot, and you can repeat this over and over. I have also had the enemy point thier weapon straight up in the air after I open fire.

Hort, I hear there is a NVidia beta driver set out there that is designed specifically for this game. Blue's (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=82214) had an article talking about it. You may want to look into it, as I read it addresses some SLI issues.

There is- but so far it's only returned a few frames for most and seems a little less stable. I'll probably still give it a go.
EDIT: The new drivers don't work. Game freezes.
I can do 1680x1050 High everything no AA (dx9), no problem. Looks pretty good.
But yea, I noticed the same things SDP did. Some times they'd see right through the 'camo', sometimes I'd be 10ft away and they wouldn't see me.

1280x1024 for life!! Games like this make me not really want a super big monitor. Well.. not as much anyway :p
Got it running pretty smooth now. When they finally enable SLi we'll see what I gain.
Ran through it again. Graphics are stunning. Pretty good gameplay. Is there a sniper rifle lying about I haven't found?
I agree- AI seems, at times, only marginally improved over FarCry.
Definitely gets my vote of approval.

I found this ign.com reader (http://club.ign.com/b/about?username=G5Saitek) comment (http://pc.ign.com/articles/830/830713p1.html) intriguing:
The piece everyone is missing.... is the Physics Card. It makes the game run much smoother. I have a Core 2 2.2, 4 gbs of ram, 8800 gtx oc2, and I was having the same problem. With the physics card it makes a huge difference...even more so then having an SLi or Crossfire card.
Hort, do you have a physics card?
That dude is fooling himself. Crysis doesn't support PhysX

Ran pretty good on my system at 1600 x 1200. Averaged about 30-35 fps with settings on high with no AA.
5600+
2 gb ram
Nvidia 8800 GTX
Definitely will eat up any system.

Didn't really run right on my 7800GT. So I had to use the 'spare' 8800GTS 320. I didn't check FPS, but it seemed perfectly playable.
Fun demo too. Will probably re-play it a few times.

Played some...ran a truck into the water. Looked like it could be fun but I went back to UT3 for a bit.
What I've learned... demo doesn't support SLI, as I said earlier, also, it only supports one core for now. Dunno why... seems silly to castrate so late in the game.
But then, UT3's demo came with only lower res textures so...
