What does everyone think of .4?

I like everything so far with the exception of the SniperRifle; it seems weaker and has a wierd prediction at very long ranges.

Has anyone tried the F14 yet? I didnt get the chance but I hear that when it has two people it lags like hell.

ps...

Sobe, did that guy that got auto-kicked every come back?
He was really helpful; I hope he didnt get banned or anything.

I like it so far. I am particularly happy with the improved stinger -- The old helos were flying tanks, which wasn't particularly realistic or fun (except maybe for the helo pilots). They are still a dominant factor in most maps, but now they have real cause to fear the lowly grunts.

A lot of people were complaining about the new heavy machine guns last night, but I haven't seen for myself yet.

Putting the BMP's rockets under control of the driver balances the sides a bit, since the Opposition had nothing to counter the Bradley. I'm not clear on the logic of the DC team as to why some vehicles require a separate gunner while others have the driver control the turret. It seems quite arbitrary, since all of them require separate gunners for the main armament in the real world.

The Basra map is great, I think my favorite.

I thought the heavy assault wasn't killing as it should. It also did nothing to the helos overhead, I was on the roof, so I was close. Now it overheats, so it's no good when I need it for multiple kills :(
I can reload the reg. assault faster then the heavy assult can cool down.

The sounds are much better for firing weapons.

The colors are better and vehicles seemed easier to drive around. Tanks slide less.

I did seem to move slower while enemy weapons fired faster. Might have been my connection but it seemed that way to me.

Wasn't sure I liked parachuting in when spawning. That bugs me.

the Heavy Assault weapon is much better.... and it over heats now... before it didn't and people would cry that it was not a fair gun... now it is.... killed SoBe many times with it... and Stealth :)

I really didn't like the guided missile battery they put by the airfield on Wake. Not that I don't like the weapon, just the placement. You simply can't bring it down low enough to be able to defend yourself there, especially if the opponent has picked up some armor from the forward base on that side. I suppose it's meant to counter the cruise missile, but since the fuel is spent 2 seconds after launch, all you can do is glide it. It does have an unguided volley alt-fire. But it'd be nice if you could hit something close to you then too.

I wish it was on the hill somewhere behind the aircraft parking.

I got to see the Tomcat from the ground. Didn't get to get in it. A lot of people were complaining about lag last night though, and not just on maps with the Tomcat. 73 Easting seemed to draw the most complaints, but I didn't have any lag problems. I did get a crash to desktop though.

Also, is there any way to exclude mine kills from the TK bot? On 73 Easting last night, I tried mining the NW base's entrances. I even issued warnings on the Team channel. I still had idiots drive right into them one right after another. I got one 72 second respawn delay and a 45 second one that kicked me once the timer reached zero. I don't know what to do about that other than not use them...since we had ArnoldforGoverner running around our base on that map planting mines in front of our armor. He also rammed Mud's rocket artillery truck with the dune buggy until he got it to roll over (the truck, not the buggy).

You can't use them defensively because you'll always end up killing your teammates. BTW, anyone tried picking up mines with support class? Apparantly you can in .4.

And as for "Arnold" and his ilk, I learned a new word on the DC forums yesterday: smacktard. A very succinct label that covers team-killers, plane-campers, tank-thieves, and idiots who won't switch to balance teams and instead spend the entire game spawn-killing at an untakeable flag.

Yes, you can pick up mines again, finally. Still can't see health percentages though.

They didn't touch the heavy tanks, so I'm happy. :D
It seems the light tanks are easier to kill now as well.
I like all the new maps.

The new Blackhawk skin and sounds are great. Did the M2A3 get a new skin as well?

Where did the mortar kit go? I've seen people using it, but it isn't under support anymore...or am I blind?

Yes, it's under the support role. I've noticed that some of the key assignments have changed. The Stinger is now 4, when it used to be 5.

It's not our fault you have a weak arm and can't throw that high.

I was shooting at people last night and nobody was going down, nerf ammo.

I dug the new maps..a lot.

The Heavy MG actually works great against everything...but the choppers. I don't think someone with a low power MG like that could really bring down a chopper with one clip. After 3 clips i did bring down one last night, but you have to fire in bursts now to avoid over heating and it is still a very deadly and effective anti-personell weapon.

I think the point was to make the stinger the primary foot soldiers weapon against the heli, thusly making the MG lest powerful against it.

I really like the added technicals as well. They are fast, more stable than the rickety humvee, and they can really ruin a Coalitions strat..and they are plentiful as well.

Basra is the ****.

That plane lags way too much with two people...

The smoke grenade they gave SO is crap. You can't effectivly hit a target you need because the damn thing goes to far. IT would be cool to have a "windup" type distance throwing when it comes to nades..but thats another patch maybe....

Overall, i dug.

Overall I dig the new patch. The first complaint I have is the mortar dissappearing for the support role depending on the map you play. That can get quite annoying. The second is the increase in fire power of the helo's. Damn thing takes out a tank in one or two shots? Please!

It's not our fault you have a weak arm and can't throw that high.I wouldn't need to if pilots were considerate enough to come down and taxi over my mines.

I was shooting at people last night and nobody was going down, nerf ammo.A lot of the .4 changes are reduced damage. According to the release notes it was done intentionally to make firefights longer.

But the AK47 seems especially weak and inaccurate, even more so than it used to be in .39. It may be ping dependent, and as I usually have one of the highest pings on the server (according to the Tab screen), that may be the reason I usually lose assault vs. assault battles (unless I shoot them in the back :)).

Yeah shoot 'em in the back works out for me quite often :)

After all I was told "This is WAR!"
