I downloaded it last night after serving a three hour tour (queue theme from Gilligan's Island) on DC Umm Qasr Harbor, but it was too late to mess with it further. I'm hoping to try it tonight.

I got it this morning and ran thru the little tut they give you...and am running a "cpu vs me" game. Cool graphics...still learing the movement and such. Built a Carrier and a squad of Bombers and a squad of Fighters. Mining a bunch of asteroids; i'll go destroy something when I get home :bash:

Just played for a bit.
Seems like a good game. It is definately Homeworld.
The test will be in the new features and how well they play. The demo's gameplay is almost identical to the original Homeworld with the exception of a new (improved) control menu. I hope there are enough new ships and features to seperate it from the original.
Thumbs up so far.
In the words of the lead developer in terms of the game itself and it's place in the Homeworld series, "...Homeworld 2 will be an evolution, not a revolution...". :)

I've played through the tutorial and the first mission, and tried the first mission once so far.
It's interesting, but it there seems to be more building and resource management required than I generally like. I know, it's an RTS. I guess I was hoping for more of a wargame. I'm going to keep playing and see how it goes, but I'm not as sure about buying it as I was.
Is the cpu vs. human game different from the missions?

Yeah. Try a scrimmage.
Me and ElectricHead have been playing the multi most of the weekend. Good fun.

My 9 year old son finished the demo before I could. I'll never hear the end of it. :D
