Server Update!

Also, we will be helping Mastur test out his new map for DC. He should be uploading it soon. We will be looking for volunteers to help test, we will want to fill the server up as much as possible!

Doesn't matter if you've already patched to 1.45...you can't join the server anyway. :cry:

(I downloaded Winrar from download.com...it's a only 30 day trial, but since I only need to open 1 file, what the hell! Besides, it' looks pretty much like Winzip and functions the same. Installing the map was easy. I'll just have to find a 1.45 server with Iraqi Dam to play it on.)

You can use it past 30 days...you just get a nag message when you use it.

I like that new Harbor map. That would be wild with 36 people on there.

Didn't like it at first but it grew on me in the ~2 hours I played on it. Very pretty but it has a few problems: the big buildings are a framerate killer and hard to traverse, the active area around the flags is too big (people can hide on the buildings and it's hard to root them out), not enough cover from air (shelter or AA mounts), and there are waaaaaay too many tickets. Is there a way to set the ticket count on the server w/o rebuilding the map? 700 is probably more than enough given how long flags can be held white. It definitely has enough vehicles for a full server load (too much really, although I bet there will still be plane campers :)).

Definitely one to try with 36, although that may take a while because it needs to be downloaded and installed first... it never had more than 10 but the server filled up fast in the next map. Maybe a blurb and a link on the front page to let people know how to get it?

I personally like the new map. After being owned by MM, Sal, and <insertanyoneelsenamehere> for 3 hours, it did get quite boring. A ticker of somewhere near a 1000 would be a lot better. Also, it would be a big improvement if you could enter the houses and buildings to provide some cover against air attacks. A good helo pilot can easily own on that map.

That's because I'm running around half the time looking for the damn speed relic. Also, it doesn't help when the the Lag Gawd loves to play cruel practical jokes on me. Case in point, I respawned way back at our non-capturable OPP base because all of the flags were captured, ran 2 miles to the nearest T72, took the veeeerrry long route to flank MM who's pitching a tent at the Harbor base (he makes Lawstud look like a passing by trascient), catch him off-guard and get the first 2 shots off onto his tank, make a mad dash towards his rear, AND *BAM* the damn stupid Lost Connection or whatever the hell that lag message is. Next thing I see *MadMikey <WhateverTheHellHeDecidesToKillMeWithWhileI'mLaggin gOut> Major Pain*. Damn you Lag Gawd! Damn you to hell!! :bash:

That lag gawd is a capricious bastard. Lets you saunter past unharmed while I rain shells on your T72, but let MM take a potshot with his SMAW and down you go. :)
