You have just returned from you local software house, new game in hand. You rip open the packaging... the wait is almost over! The anticipation grows as you place the shiny new cd in the drive. The status bar finally reaches 100%! YES! After nearly a year, you are finally going to play the game of the year. Oh, wait... it is asking you to check for new patches. The next hour is spent going through eight different websites, registering on three of them, and waiting in a queue of 800 others, only to download a 300MB patch at 12k. Over the next few months, you will follow this same procedure for each new patch and/or mod.
If any of this sounds familiar, then The Gaming Asylum is the place for you. Our goal is to provide one site where you can download the latest demos, patches, major mods, and utilities at blazing speeds. No registrations, no queues.
In addition to making as many files as possible available for most popular games, this site also provides the following:

Don't see a section for your favorite game? Add it in! Everyone in the community can contribute to our database of game types and supporting files.

Want to see where your friends are playing? Add your favorite servers to the "My Servers" page, and you can check live status at any time. In addition, we will soon be implementing a search feature that will allow you to query the game servers in our system for a particular player.

Customizable links page. This feature allows you to add your favorite web sites to our links pages.

Have some news you want to share with the community? Post it in the Asylum News forum, and it will display on our front page. In addition, a discussion thread will be started so others can share their thoughts on the topic.

We currently have a game server running Battlefield 1942. Soon, different game types will be run on a scheduled basis. For example, we may run Day of Defeat one night, and Half Life 2 the next, etc. As the site develops, we will add additional game servers.

This is just a breif overview of the features. Most of them are available right now, others will be added shortly. Also, we will have some surprise features in store as the community develops! We hope that this will become a valuable resource to all gamers... ENJOY!
