I know this is long overdue, but...
They had the game running on numerous PC's, and you could jump in and basically DM with other E3 attendees. The graphics were top notch, and the gameplay was great.
I will not go into a detailed description of the game, as F7 has already done that in another thread. I do want to add a couple of important facts, however.
As mentioned in F7's thread, the game takes place at the remnants of the Chernobyl nuclear facility, which they call the "Zone". The developers told me that they actually spent quite a bit of time at Chernobyl, and approx. 60% of the Zone is an actual depiction of the real thing.
They are attempting to make this game very realistic. Creatures you see in the game have actual needs; the need to eat and sleep, for example. You will see creatures feeding on each other... and you will be viewed as a food source for some of the creatures.
The environment is constantly changing. These changes include weather effects, and a day/night cycle. During the night cycle, you may choose to use flashlights, etc. If you do, however, it will change the way creatures react to you, as you would then be more visible.
The humans you encounter in the Zone also react differently to your behaviour. For example, if you start firing on someone from a distance, you should, of course, expect them to fire back. On the other hand, if you approach carefully, you could find them to be very helpful.
While you never know how a game is gonna change between the time you see it at E3 and the final release (remember UT 2k3?), I believe this game is going to be a big hit. It looks like it will be a very engaging single player experience, while offering great multiplayer action to keep you coming back for more.
It looks like there are going to be a number of "must have" games being released this summer/fall, and, after seeing this game first hand, it has moved up near the top of my list.
