Last night a scorpion ended up in my hallway!
My dog had been growling and whining for an hour already.
Hubby & I had gone outside with the dog to see what was wrong a few times. He sniffed around and was happy to come back inside.
When he started barking at the floor 30 mins later, there was the scorpion. He was quickly killed by Hubby and trashed.
I love my dog :)
I have had a lot of animals in my back yard - rattlers and king snakes, ferrets, racoons, opossum, a flock (?) of quail, squirrels and of course rats (I consider the opossum & rats on the same scale = yucky) but never a scorpion.
Wonder what made it come here and are there more?

Dunno. We have little ones in the woods around here. Made scout camp interesting in my younger days. Never see any in populated areas though.

Oooh.....good puppy!!! I love animals. =D
To give my own little story here, I was visiting my wife (before we were married), and after coming home from dinner I walked into her apartment and plopped down on the floor next to her roomate's cat. While petting the cat, she comes out of her room and stops dead in her tracks, saying, "DON'T MOVE!" Wondering what's going on, she walks closer and tells me to slowly get up.......after getting up, what do I see? A scorpion laying about 4 in. away from me. Luckily, her roomate's cat killed it, and it was dead on the floor.
I'm glad I have her around, though....living in Vegas, there's always a chance that one will come into the apartment, and she can handle them as if they were fluffy bunnies. =/
<------ huge wuss.
I stayed on an Indian Res. while my father went to the Univ. of Oklahoma and there were all sorts of fun stuff, scorpians, diamondbacks, tarantulas, black widows. My brother got bit by a brown recluse and his hand swelled up like a basketball. He also had a nasty run in with some fire ants.
Worse thing about scorpians is they climb on stuff. I was working a construction job in Georgia and I picked up a 2x4 and there was a scorpian on it (luckily I saw it). I met a guy out west who got bit while he was brushing his horse (it was on the side of the horse). He said it felt like he had a really bad flu for 2 or three days.
There are 3 types of scorpians in the US. The 2 larger types 2.5 inches or bigger have bites like a bee sting. However, the smallest types (1.5 inches long) is the most poisonous and can make you feel pretty sick for a while. Of course, its always more serious for the little ones or the elderly.
Yes, scorpians are in Cali. You may have brought it into the house yourself (in or on a package or something). You're more likely to find them out in your yard then in the house.
Also, leave the King Snakes alone. They won't bother you and they eat the rats.

I think the scorpion followed you...
so when ever you depart from "Gazala" or "Lost Village" maps, please check you cargo for any unwanted scorpions...
I'm positive that scorpion came from Opposition forces...
