View Full Version : XP Update
For the last two weeks, every day my rig asks to download and install the latest XP update. This one: KB835732.
I DL it and install... then tomorrow it wants to do it again. First time I have had trouble with this. Any suggestions?

Ah-- thanks guys.
Turns out I also have the sasser worm... :( It kept me from even launching IE for quite some time.
Not sure how I got it... and also not certain how it got past my firewall. I never gave the firewall permission to let it listen out... I've at least got it quarantined for the moment and can chase it later today.

I had a similar problem I fixed by disabling 'restore' for awhile.
I will attempt to find the link -

More on removing Sasser:

"4. Install the patch appropriate to your operating system Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011 (835732) (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx). Install the patch whether you believe it is installed or not. If you caught Sasser, the patch was not properly installed."
nice.
I'll keep digging....

Thanks- I think I've got it wiped. I use the Symantec tool and appear to be cool now.
