Good fun.

I hope they patch it soon. The M60 is fearless and games seem to lag when you get close to twenty people.

Damn EA and Dice! :ink:

I hope they patch it soon. The M60 is fearless and games seem to lag when you get close to twenty people. That lag was odd. It was only happening to four players: you, me, Dank, and one of the Pxr clanners. All of our pings were going up and down at the same time and over the same 50-70 ms range: i.e. when mine was 135, yours was 130 and Dank's was 105, and when mine was 195, yours was 190 and Dank's was 165. The lag was only in game... when I pinged from the shell it was 45-50ms.

However, I'm not sure if it was related to the number of players in game, because the pings finally settled for all of us during Ho Chi Minh trail (around 8:45pm PDT) and the server still had quite a few players. I think Stealth mentioned the server is on multiple OC3's. That might explain why it was only happening to some players: the load is balanced across multiple lines and one of them was FUBAR.

Cheers,
Salyavin

Or... the lag you're getting is from a busy router miles away from the server that all 4 of you are going through. Have you traced the route or pathpinged it out yet?

About the M60, I get just as many kills when I'm NVA as when I'm US. Yes, the M60 has a lot of bang, but that don't mean a thing. I'll tell you where the big problem is - helicopters. There's a need for more AA in these games. That's the biggest imbalance as far as I can see.

Oh, yeah, good games last night.

Or... the lag you're getting is from a busy router miles away from the server that all 4 of you are going through. Have you traced the route or pathpinged it out yet? You're right. It happened again tonight and I tracerouted it to one of Comcast/AT&T's routers, just before the backbone. gar1-p340.dlrtx.ip.att.net [12.123.196.97] is the culprit. Added between 50 and 80 ms from the previous hop.

Ink and Dank, do you have Comcast cable too? If so and you get lag again, try running tracert 66.93.192.138 and see if it spikes at the same point.

Cheers,
