F7?
Shirl?

Can you answer? hehe

What is happening over there?

Massive power outages in NE United States at the moment. All of New York City is out of power. All the boroughs from the reports.

I thought a burro was a donkey?

Wow, the electric company must be running Windows as their servers. Looks like they need to patch. :p

This power outage is worse than the damn virus. Fifteen of our circuits are currently down. :ink:

Hey, if that dude from the movie, Independence Day, can upload a virus to an alien spaceship using a Mac laptop... then anything is possible.

Funny Phan, I believed when I was watching it  now I feel so ungeeked by you saying that.

We've had flash flood warnings in the east county of San Diego. Seems Thunderstorms are heavy in the mountains.

I had a black out. Then I got some power and got into the game with you all last night, but I started having brown outs, so I had to leave. The power is off and on. I heard a something about a nuclear power plant catching fire in Pennsylvania. Hope it isn't true. I'll try to get on tonight.

Ugh what a mess!

I left work at 3:30 yesterday luckily. I don't know why, but it was just the right time. I work just on the Jersey side of the Tappan Zee Bridge. It took me the usual 30-45 minutes to get home. Today my coworker who lives near me told me he left at 4:30-5:00 yesterday and it took him 2+ hours to get home!

So I get home and within 15 minutes, the power goes out. It keeps trying to come back on, but keeps failing. Finally at 4:30 it went off for good.

Power came back on around 6-7:00pm, but cable was down (tv & internet). I was just glad I was able to sleep with my air conditioner on.

I heard things were crazy in NYC. They weren't letting anyone into the city but were letting people out. The roads were clear this morning; I guess lot's of people took off.

For the most part, power is back up and running like normal. There is a power conservation notice in the tri-state area, so I'm doing my part by running every air conditioner in the house, both PCs, 3 tvs, and various other appliances. :p

I felt lost without my internet connection!!

F7: Don't forget to water your lawn at least 5 times a day, that grass needs to stay healthy!!

Oh, and throw a couple of spotlights on your flag in your front yard...the BIG kind, you know, the spotlights you'll be able to see from 20 mi. away so everyone will know how grand this country is.

The worst part was all the stores closed and I couldn't get any beer.

My Aunt had just got in (airport) from Seattle about 3:40 PM. She picked the wrong time to visit NY.

It's all still a big mystery.

PS: There has been an unusually large number of fighter jets and helicopters flying around today.

Wasn't just you east coasters that were affected by this.

I was at a stock brokerage this week and got a frantic call from the toronto stock exchange asking if we had power. I kidd you not, I looked around the office and went "umm... yah?" After a few frantic comments she finally gave me the name of the person she wanted me to pass her onto. That's when I figured something was up.

Today was miserable and horrible at work. Most of the trades didn't go through (toronto and NY stock trades) and our systems were still down; no one could access accounts etc. One does NOT want to be in a big office with a bunch of grumpy traders and investors. What's really funny is though even they said it was "unreal and busy downstairs" I head down around noon to the staff lunchroom/patio and they have a huge ass barbeque going on. Guess some things could wait.

Glad I'm not there monday when all hell really will break loose!

~Airlea~ No more brokerages!
