'42 Tweaks

Couple little tweaks to make life easier in '42/DC. Refresh rates first.

Find the Video Default file in the BF directory.

BF42/Mods/bf1942/Settings

Open the Video Default settings and change the value of
renderer.AllowAllRefreshRates to 1.

renderer.AllowAllRefreshRates = 1 (finished example)

Save the file. This will let '42 render in your default refresh rate. Default for the game is 60hz and that is a little choppy for my eyes.


Let's also get rid of those annoying movies when you boot the game as well as those pesky logo screens.

Open all Movie folders and rename any ".bik" file to something else. ".bikoff" works for me. There is a Movie folder in each of the mods as well as the main folder. Make sure you edit all of these.
This will lessen start time considerably.

Thanks, Ink. Not running those background vids helps speed up using the GUI also. My mouse even scrolls faster now. :)

I keep my view distance at 100%. You MAY be seeing the remove-fog hack. Hard to say.

I run my vid at 1024X768 32bit 100mhz refresh. It kinda depends on what hardware you have as to what you should set your rig for.

Teh 'see me first' stuff mostly happens when a helo hits you from a mile away, and out of sight...this could be luck and just spammage of a base.

BUT, on 73 easting I have noticed alot of guys pretty far out side the un-walled base just picking apart tanks, etc. with little Bradleys....they shoot from so far you cant see them - even if they are not in the crater.

I like to think they are hacks ;)
