Kickin' arse!
I take it this is not the patch that will make '42 maps obsolete?

This is the only map for this release. This patch is designed to fix some issues and add a couple of new features.
The .4 version will be the next full release. It will contain numerous major new features and maps.

I always thought the grenade launchers were set up pretty good, though since you only have two of them, they aren't much good against armor. At least for me. Maybe they should tone down the friendly damage on mines. Seems it would save many of the Asylum goers some grief.
So far I haven't hit any of your land mines. I may be jinxing myself, but I've done a fair job of avoiding the little herseys chocolate chips of destruction.

Reduced mortar power against armour
Looking forward to the rest of the changes though.
"Stinger has very little effect on soldiers".
That will make a big difference.
Choppers less powerful.
Anti-Armor less powerful, but still not toned down enough.
Special Ops more powerful.
...and there was much rejoicing. :D

The oil fields have that eerie glow that happens in real life.
Good find :)
Oilfields looks like a sniper map (all those walkways that lead to the roofs). I bet those tanker trucks go up with a nice explosion.

I had read a while back that a lot of the environment in this map can be "damaged".

I hope that it's not just visual damage but actual model damage. I would love stashing some DetPacks and using them to take out a large structure causing it to collapse on some enemies. :naughty:

More maps for us :)
I loaded the .39 patch but I can't find the Oil Fields maps.
Well, after playing the new patch a lot last night, I've come to a conclusion:
I LOVE IT! :D
DC is getting closer to perfection. Gone are the days of 'whoever shoots first wins'.
The Stinger/RPGs being less accurate against Infantry is just what was needed. No more using it as a sniper rifle. I mean there isn't a man on the planet that can hit a guy in the earlobe from 50 yards away. It was unbalanced and silly and I'm glad they fixed it.
Helicopters are no longer the Kings of the Battlefied. Before, helicopters had arguably more armor than anything in the game. There were only 2 weapons that could kill a heli in a reasonable amount of time: the BPM and a Stinger. Now, Heli's are what they should be: lightly armored reconnaisance, light attack, ground support vehicles.
I saw a helicopter being used last night the way it should be: I was defending the South Base on one of the maps. The guy driving the heli would scan the area letting me know if he saw any enemy units. Since I was in a T72, I would engage most of the units, but he was there when I needed a little help or when I was being overwhelmed. We held that base the entire match.
Artillery - First, the aiming arc is changed. It's no longer a line drive hit. The line drives took the fun and challenge out of trying to shoot something. Also, the armor has been reduced. I'm sorry, but no way should an artillery piece should have that much armor and that much power. They are primarily for support from far away. They're not frontline battle tanks for Christs sake.
Assault Rifle - I'm SOOO glad they only gave them 1 grenade. Before it was cheesy because it would fire instantaneous. If you were about to kill someone, they would just instantly launch the grenade killing you as well, and sometimes killing you before you could kill them. That's another thing that pissed me off. I come up behind a guy and shoot him 4 times with an MP5, but he's able to turn around and laucnh a grenade at me?
Gimmie a break.
I'm not asking for a realistic lifelike experience, I'm just asking for logical balances.
That's what the DC team gave us in .39.
Every match last night was close. Especially Easting and Kursk. Easting usually delves into the coalition digging in and one shot killing anything that gets close with the artillery pieces. With the new patch however, you really have to work hard to defend that middle base.
Kudos to the DC team for their changes.

I think it sucks.
Artillery is worthless. 4 direct hits from artillery to destroy a tank? Worthless. Nobody but n00bs are gonna use it. And not for long.
Opposition is WAY overmatched.
Toning down the grenade launcher is the answer. Now, it is worthless to play the Assualt class once again. One grenade? That is just silly.
Helos are worthless. Toning down the rockets was a good idea. Toning down the Hellfire wasn't. You shouldn't have to unload all of your ordinance to destroy one tank.
Making the MP5 more powerfull? It was already the most deadly gun in DC.

There are good fixes here.
I was getting tired of shooting at someone from behind, just to have them turn around and fire back and I died first?
The problem with playing anything in its original form, most changes are not welcome.
Hard to please a large group of people :(

I like some of it, and well...what EH said for the rest.
Is the M16 more powerful? I think so. 1-3 shots and the Opposition guy is dead...hmmm. I didn't think this needed a fix. It is like the Opposition guys are shooting marshmallows.
Yes, they should even out the power of the teams as the Opposition is at a big disadvantage.
I like the fact that the heli's have less armor, the ammo could have more bite tho.
If you make the MP5 more powerful, what about something for the bad guys special op's guy?
I don't agree with toning down the mortar against armor.
I like the RPG/Stinger fixes. I was getting tired of playing anti-armor just to compete in the pub's.
For the heavy armor - like the arc, but they should be a little more powerful. I hit a M1A1 last night 3 times...he (smoking a little) turned and line drived me with a shot *boom* I am dead. He drove through the artillery barrage. IRL, I think a howitzer would blow the crap out of a tank with 3 shots, or at least hurt em bad.
I was getting a lot of hits on the helos with the stinger. They took some vehicles out of the Docks map also.
Also, can you play the oil fields level as a single player instant battle? I see the map in the folder, but it isn't in the level list in the game. Is there some way I can update the level list (edit a file or something) or is this only a multiplayer level?

SFT, I was told it only plays in the multiplayer level.

Sooo, just start a new multiplayer game.
You can explore then, I think you can add bots if you go coop, but you will need other players to start tickets?
I just played "Oil Fields" twice. Pretty cool.
There are untakable flags so you can sweep the map. A good amount of armor and aircraft. Getting around in some of the bases is a little tricky in a tank (lots of stuff to bump into), but its great if your on foot. You can sneak around and get up on the buildings. Not bad. There are 5 flags I think.
