I haven't played this game.
Someone has loaned me their 5 disk set of the game as I was telling them about Half-life 2 coming out. I would like to know something about the game.
I have one that is just named Half-Life Blue Shift, it has no # on the disk, is it a seperate game from the rest or does it belong to either disk 1 or disk 2 or disk 3 or disk 4?
Maybe if I started playing it I would know that answer, just thought if any of you knew I wouldn't have to load so much into the computer and compromise my playing ability with BF'42.
Thanks in advance :)

Half Life: Blue Shift is an add-on to Half Life. It adds a few levels, new enemies, and the other typical add-on stuff. 5 discs?? Hmmm. I would imagine it's broken down like this:
2 CDs - Half Life
1 CD - Blue Shift
Not sure on the other 2. Are there any titles on the CDs? If you post them I can tell you what they are.
Half Life was voted game of the year when it came out. It pretty much revolutionized FPS games. It was an instant classic and still is one of my favorite games to date. The storyline was very immersive and kept you wondering, 'What's going to happen next?'. If the ending weren't so weird, I would rate this game a 10 instead of a 9.5.
Have fun playing it. Turn off the lights and turn up the sound. The sound effects are killer and there are quite a few moments where you will jump out of your chair. Very scary. :)

The official releases are:
Half-Life
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Blue Shift
What started out as a mod and is now available boxed:
Half-Life: Counter-Strike
The single player games (the first 3) are very nicely done. I would recommend playing all of them.....even in 'god-mode' just to see and understand the storyline.
Half-Life: You are Gordon Freeman, a scientist who has to battle aliens and military soldiers to get out of a Laboratory.
Half-Life: Opposing Force, takes place during the same time frame as the first one, except you are a military soldier, with a different mission. You'll even see Gordon a couple of times in this one.
Half-Life: Blue Shift, again, takes place during the same time frame as the other two, but now, you're a lowly security guard named Barney.
All together, a very nice story.
Half-Life: Counter-Strike is the most popular 'aftermarket' mod of any game on the Internet right now. At the time of this post, there are over 62,000 people playing Counter Strike (http://www.gamespy.com/stats).
My recommendation would be to play them in 'god-mode'. It's by far, the best storyline of any first person shooter that I have ever played! :D

Yes, that's 4 of them, the last one was TeamFortress
Thanks and I will find the time to play them all.
I find I am way behind your listed games here and need to play a little catch-up so at least I have an idea of what's being said about what...hehe.

Make sure you play Half-Life first, and make sure that you play it on the highest difficulty setting, as it makes a huge difference ;)
