No, not that kind of hummer.
I was on the server this afternoon trying to get in some helicopter practice. After a bit, I got bored with just crashing helicopters and started trashing the other vehicles. That's how I found out the Hummer is nearly indestructable as long as you aren't in it.
Gazala is a particularly good map for this (it's the desert map with all the canyons, and the unaffiliated airbase in the NW corner).
Getting from one place to another can be slow if you have to stay on the road. I found a number of places on the map where I could shortcut my way around by jumping the Hummer from one of the upper roads and bailing out with a parachute. The Hummer would crash down into the canyon below, usually roll a couple of times, and seemingly without fail landing back on it's wheels. I'd parachute down, get in, and the Hummer would be barely more damaged than it was before the jump. Done in the right places, you can floor it and get to another base in half the time it would take by staying on the upper roads.
I did this 4 times in a row, and the hummer was only at 1/2 damage. It can be an effective way to move from place to place in a hurry. I suppose you could move 5 people at once, but they'd all have to know to when to bail (switching to behind view helps [F10]). I didn't try it with the Iraqi equivalant personnel carrier. I don't know if this would be considered an exploit or not...I don't see it as being any different than bailing from a plane to get to a base faster...and Gazala is the only map I can think of where getting around is so difficult for ground vehicles that this technique would help much.
There are 4 capturable bases on Gazala. I don't know their names, so I'll refer to them as NW, NE, SW, and SE. The NW is on the the canyon wall road that runs pretty directly between the two main bases. The NE base is the first one south of the Allied base, the SW one is east of the Opposition base, and the SE one is the one with the bunker and vehicle repair station.
Good jump spots:
Just south of the NW base, where the road curves west toward the Opposition base, there's a place where there is no fence, just a sloped rock. Jumping there can cut 5-10 seconds off getting to the SW base.
North of the NE base, the road forks going to the Allied base. The left road goes up, the right road goes down. Take the left road, past the AA gun. There will be a spot on the left where there's no fence and you can jump from a rock. Don't bail immediately as there is another ledge just below the jump that you'll hit. Bail after going off the second ledge, otherwise you or the hummer may get stuck on it...F10 view really helps with this one. That cuts 5 - 8 seconds off getting to the Allied base or NW base. You *might* be able to hit it coming south from the Allied base. I didn't try it, but if so, it'll drop you onto the most direct road to the SW base.
If anyone's interested in exploring this further, let me know and I'll try to get some screenshots or show you on the server.
If it's cheating, let me know.
