Well, it has been just over one week since the launch of The Gaming Asylum. We worked through a couple of issues, and had a lot of fun. It is great watching a new community being born.
Over the years, many have asked why I do this. What exactly is in it for me? Well, it is the community. I have played computer games for many years now. I have found that it often does not really matter what the game is, it is all about who you are playing with. Many, many nights I sat on the phone with MM and SKTLKFC playing Quake 2, Sin, Half-Life, StarCraft, and other multiplayer games. It was more fun because I had my friends there with me.
The ability to expand that circle of friends has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of playing online, and I hope it has done the same for you. Being able to play with a server full of peeps you "know" (in a sense) really brings a new dimension to online gaming. Without this circle of "virtual friends", I do not think I would continue to play.
Personally, this has been a rough year for me. I have had many changes in my life. For a while there, I thought that it was time to hang all of this up for a bit. I was no longer having fun; it was causing me more stress in my life. I needed a break.
Well, I very quickly realized that having a community like this where I could hang out was really just what I needed. I thought about what type of site would be of value to me as a gamer. I wanted to get back to playing multiple types of games. I knew that finding and downloading game files was a real pain. That is how this site was conceived.
Sorry for the lengthy ramble. What I really want to impress upon all of you is that this site is for all of us as a community, and I thank you all for making it a success. The staff here works very hard to supply services that enhance the site and draw people here, but it is the community that makes people want to stay.
On behalf of all of the staff, I want to say thanks again for hanging with us, we really appreciate it. From what I am seeing, we have the start of a really fantastic community here. I truly hope that you will continue to support this community; I enjoy playing and sharing info with all of you!
Thanks again,
