I'm finally getting a laptop and wireless router for upstairs, mostly it will be my wife's.

Any opinions on Dell? I'm very happy with my Dell monitor experiences.
Looking at something modest in size and fairly lightweight around $700-800.

As far as routers, I'll probably get a dual channel gigabit router as we have some interference issues and I'd like a decent pipe/speed. Any opinions on Belkin vs Linksys (Cisco) vs NetGear? NetGear seems to have the most bang for the buck.

My Dell Laptop has been kicking for about 4 years now. Sure it's getting old, but it still works, and they have some of the better pricing around. I have a somewhat older D-Link router with wired gigabit and wireless a/b/g. (It pre-dates N by a while.) I can say it works, but I can't compare it to any other wireless routers. At the time, it was the first wireless router with wired gigabit, so it was a pretty easy choice. Now that I'm semi-looking at -N routers.. there are tons of them.

Another for vote for Dell. They just have it together and know what they are doing. At work , we've had good luck with Dell's outlet store that sells refurbished, open box, and slightly scratched units.

But if you're paranoid about buying from their outlet store, their main website is having some good deals:

I've got the Netgear wgt624v3 and it's a little buggy. It works fine until it doesn't (wireless connections slow down or stop working; wired are fine), at which point I reboot it and all returns to normal.

For laptops, friends have recommended the Dell outlet to me as well. My brother has a non-outlet Dell laptop that just died and their local tech has basically changed everything except the case to get him back up and running, so kudos for just getting things fixed.

Edit: I ordered the Dell Studio 15 and a NetGear router.

Thanks for the feedback. :)
