Yar!

I must admit that since my video card BLOWS :bash: I've been forced to play some old games. *cough* diablo II *cough* Does anyone else play this? Is there any reason to have it's own "forum" for it?

What about the golden oldies like Starcraft!! And Broodwars. I still play those too.

Anyone else?

Yes, used to play this constantly online BattleNet. One of the more addicting games that didnt require one of NASA's supercomputers to run.

I haven't played it in awhile though. Perhaps I just got burnt out on it. This happened with C&C Tiberian Sun as well.

Airlea, do you have the D2 Expansion? It's worth getting. And what character do you play? I've played them all, but found Necromancer to be the best.

I dusted this off a couple months ago because I never got around to playing the expansion. Got into act III then started hearing about the 1.10 patch so I stopped and am still waiting...
Necromancer was the most fun the 1st time through, I'm playing a druid this time.

What is this 1.10 patch supposed to do?

I've got the expansion and I'm playing an assassin (oh there's a surprise). I don't play it via Battlenet simply because I'm tired of all the cheaters, hacks, and general morons that always seem to flock my way.

As for Starcraft/Broodwars I play that on Bnet often; I'm getting better at the game when it comes to pvp. I usually play comps and UMS. There are some fun UMS maps out there now. SC was my main game before I came to UT and UP; man there were so many late night games with my friends. I always played with them because they always saved my arse. :moon: Of course there are "map hacks" out there now that allow you to see what the other person is building/doing. Takes the fun out of the game for me =( That's why I don't play too many public games anymore. One of the main reasons I was at UP was because everyone was so good with beating the crap out of those that bot. Although the occassional one did slip by ;)

~Airlea~ You know who you are....

What is this 1.10 patch supposed to do?It's supposed to increase the monster difficulty, add new items and cube recipies, change the skill trees so that skills have more effects on each other, and fix the bugs and exploits that people have been using to dupe and import hacked items. (I'll believe that last point when I see it. :)) Lots of 1.10 beta info at http://www.diabloii.net.

Anyone want to buy my Level 2 Thief? I have enchanted rusted dagger, the MissingLink, and a pair of old dusty sandles. Bidding starts at new LOW PRICE of ONLY $5,000.

Play... I dunno, don't you think $5,000 is a bit steep? I mean, come on. We're talking about a LEVEL TWO character.

Maybe $2500 is more reasonable. I'd think about paying $5000 for a level six or seven character, but level two? :)

I dragged this (much used) CD out again when the 1.10 beta patch cropped up. I played it non-stop for a week and really liked the changes the 1.10 patch made. A lot of people are "waiting" for the official patch, and that's understandable since any time you invest on a character could be wasted time if the official patch doesn't coelesce with the beta patch (ß1.10s actually tends to break the ß1.10 patch and gear goes missing), but I do recommend if you haven't tried the beta that you do grab the patch and give it a spin on a new character. You may find the changes are not for you, or you can uses the opportunity to make mistakes on your skill picks before it's "for real" on your level 61 Druid.

A few of the QBs (http://quirkybastard.net) still play occasionally, but not really con mucho gusto. They tend to always be restarting with level one characters...

And Starcraft is still one of the Great Games of All Time (and IMHO a better executed game than WC3, thought not half as pretty).

For those of you who play SC/Broodwars, here is an indepth compendium done by the peeps at Battlenet.

http://www.battle.net/scc/

Here's one for Diablo II:

http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/

Salyavin also pointed out http://www.diabloii.net/ which I think is the best website for diablo II that I've seen so far.

~Airlea~ Strategy? what's that?

Hmm.. im confused.

I dusted off my diablo 2+Expansion pack and installed them. I ran the 1.10 patch. Now the option to connect to battlenet from in the game is gone? Was this intentional?

It's a beta patch for single player and direct TCP/IP MP only. If you want to play on battle.net you can change back to 1.09 with the RevertTo109.bat script.

1.10 will be released officially on battle.net "when it's done"

Lea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll have to see if I can even find my old CDs and install them to play some SC with you!!! Brood war, of course.

Like everyone else, I'm kinda waiting for the official Diablo 2 patch. Once it goes live, I'll probably start a ladder char. Nothing to compete with everyone, but a brand new economy. Find a group of friends, start a private passworded game and you won't run into any hackers.

But yeah, lemme see if I can find Starcraft....been ages since I played that game.

I found this while cleaning my harddrive today. I forgot I had it:

You know you've played too much Diablo II when...

Having discovered that you can squish rats, you run around in circles trying to stomp as many as you can in the smallest area possible.

You start appreciating Charsi for more than just her metalworking skills.

When using FastCash at the ATM you start looking for the 10,000 gold option.

You spend time wondering how that swarm was carrying around a Great Maul of Bashing.

You accept that a place called "Pandemonium Fortress" is a safe haven.

All petrol stations are known to you as "Refilling Shrines".

You come up with a theory explaining why scorpians are attracted to corpses.

As a side line, you draw monsters into specific areas in order to make Pro Hart style artistic creations with their remains.

If your wounded, you ask people in town if they can heal you

Mistakin fat people for guntgarian beasts and attackin them

Attacking swarms of moquistoes with a plastic sword

When your dad gets home from work in his caravan, you start yelling "Yes!! Warriv has returned from the East(or West)!!"

When you ask the doctor for healing potion.

You buy a bottle of blue Gaterade wanting to replenish your mana.

Your favorite jacket is now called the "Silks of the Victor".

You practice your warcries by screaming at little children and animals.

Ormus makes sense.

You start having daydreams about Charsi.

You start to think Kaysha is nice.

You start to think Akara looks pretty.

You start having erotic dreams about Akara, Kaysha and Charsi

When Deckard Cain starts saying: "AGAIN? Go buy a scroll - its not like you can't afford it!"

Try this:

with win2k and winxp you can create a shortcut to the .exe
edit the properties of said shortcut to "run maximize" or "fullscreen"
cant hurt to try that.

I'm sure you've tried it, but ALT-ENTER is typically used to move back and forth between windowed and full-screen for a lot of games.

Sorry to dig this up but this is my first visit here. I play D2 expansion on East. Anyone still playing this or am I late? Which realm are you on?

Hey Kao...welcome to the forums. =)

I usually play on West, but I haven't played in about 6 months to be honest. Right now, I think everyone is waiting for the v1.10 patch to come out before they start playing on Battle.net. That, and all of these shmucks are too busy playing BF1942. =P
