The single player demo is out and is 500mb.

I'm hearing mixed reactions about the multiplayer beta. Some people say things like the jumping animations is strange - uh oh :D . A game like this needs to have realistic animations when it come to running and jumping, so I think they better fix that right away if this is true because that will turn people off . Far:cry: ;)

Demo can be found here and on Ubisoft's site:

Too big for me to download unless people confirm that it's worth the download :D

According to the Ubi forums, this may not be the official release.

Yeah, it looks like it got out of the bag a bit early... though still no official word from Ubi.

Started the DL about 4am... was 90% when I left for work. Something to look forward to when I get home!

Downloaded it, played it. Not impressed. It just doesn't "feel" right.
It does look pretty though.

The download site says that the demo isn't 'official' until 17GMT...and pulled the links.

Wonder what that means? Other than no demo for now.

LOL! Yeah UT2003. That game just felt wrong even before the demo was released. And we all know the end result of how that game turned out - Yikes!. ;)

I hope Far Cry turns out good. I suspect the single player aspect might be somewhat generic and cliche but the multiplayer and modding could be popular if they get things right and listen to any negative feedback and design maps specifically for MP and not just have people running around a big island and they better fix any weird jumping animations. I don't even know if I have the power to run this game....

I have not played a single game since UT that felt as good. Sigh... But at least some have been close, or at least work well for what the game demands (Cod) for instance.

Are you saying you played the Far Cry demo and the game feels good or are you saying UT99 is the last game you played that felt right?

I was reading a whole bunch of user reviews of the Far Cry demo, and so far, apart from technical glitches and somewhat high system requirements, most of the reviews seem very positive. Some comparing it to first time they played Half-Life. They must be talking about the total world feel. This is probably one of the few games to have what looks to be a total environment where you can actually swim to different islands...and walk through full jungles.

They have close to 2 months to fix things so we'll see if they can get things just right... :)

I was trying to say that, in the 4 years since UT, no other game has "felt right" like UT did and still does. CoD feels pretty good and BF42 is -OK- though vehicles are pretty good.

I will say the new Max Payne (only played the demo) "feels" decent too.

I know what you mean. It's been 5 years and Half-Life is still my pick for most memorable gaming experience. UT99 felt good right out of the box. Games like Serious Sam, No One Lives Forever etc.. also felt right to me, in the sense that I liked those games right away....

Hasn't anyone here played the Far Cry demo yet. I want to know if the animations are messed up :D. Hail The Goat said the game doesn't feel right but never said what part of the game feels wrong or if its the total feel....

To me it's the total feel. There's just something about it that I know I could never like. I'm into the same type of games you are IHTG, love the fast paced action that Serious Sam brings. I'm not a fan of realistic type games, ie Soldier of Fortune.

Couldn't tell you much about the jumping animations, never noticed anyone jumping. Didn't really pay attention to the other animations but I will when I get home and try it again.
