Having trouble with your PC? Post here! While your problem may not get solved, there are many technically capable people that participate in the Gaming Asylum community who may be able to help.

What to do if you have a problem (How to post your problem)

Try to recreate the problem to be sure it's not just a random glitch. If it is a common occurrence, describe the problem here briefly.

When posting a problem, please include your system specifications. Motherboard and what BIOS it is running. Processor type. RAM type and amount. Operating System used. Video Card and driver version used. Soundcard and drivers used. And so on... Also be sure to list anything which is out of the ordinary about your system such as specific hardware (video camera, tablet, etc.) or apps which absolutely MUST run in the backround (Anti-Virus, Firewall, etc.).

If you receive error messages, please include in detail what the error message said. There are thousands of possible error messages in each version of Windows. The people trying to help you are technicians, not mindreaders. ;)

Things you can do to troubleshoot or prevent a problem yourself:

Be sure you have the latest drivers for every piece of hardware in your system. Most notably, your motherboard and BIOS. People tend to forget to upgrade these things or some do not know how (it is not an easy task for the average PC user). If you do not know how to update your drivers, please post and I am sure someone will be happy to help.

Regarding game related problems: Close down all programs and applications and then try starting the game you are having trouble with. This means closing down any Anti-Virus applications, Firewall programs, Instant Messengers, etc. The "cleaner" your system is running, the better chance it will run without fault and the better chance you have of pinpointing the problem. Also, one of these programs may be causing the problems you are experiencing and closing one of them may solve your problem altogether. :)

Visit Windows Update once a month (or bi-monthly) and download any critical updates, OS updates, and driver updates. If you are reluctant to download a specific patch or update, feel free to post and someone might be able to explain what the patch is for and why you do or don't need it.

Hope this mini-FAQ helps you out. If it doesn't and you are still having problems, follow the guide above of how to post your problem. It will most certainly help the people who are trying to help you.

Good luck and frag on!

You know ... people that post problems will probably never really read this part of it.
